How do I import my sketch from Adobe Illustrator into Adobe InDesign?
I would like graphics to create, etc., in Adobe Illustrator, then copy to, and paste it in Adobe InDesign or MS Publisher. I will not have to save the picture first. However, if I simply try copying and pasting into InDesign or Publisher, the image will not turn out to be the (and I get only numbers and text). Any suggestions? Should I be using Corel Draw take place?
You can not copy/paste from Illustrator and into MS Publisher (a crappy program btw.). This is because the content from Illustrator is not of a type that Publisher can handle. For this you will have to export your illustrator-file as an image. Depending on the content this should probably be as PNG (“Illustrative”) or JPG (“Photographic”) – depending on the content. Make sure you export it in the size you need.
Illustrator and InDesign on the other hand speaks much better with each other as they are both made by Adobe. You CAN copy/paste vector elements from Illustrator to InDesign, but not all types of content can be copied this way (as InDesign doesn’t have all the capabilities of Illustrator and vice versa). You should only try it for simple shapes that you require to be editable in InDesign.
To get Illustrator content into InDesign, just save you .ai-file.
Then in your InDesign-document go to File->Place… like with any other image.
