Computer monitoring software is used to spy on a person’s internet activity. There are software programs nowadays that can track everything a person not on the computer -
Record instant messaging, e-mails sent and received, log record of all visited sites, so on and so forth. The programs can be hidden from the unsuspecting user, and they usually have no idea
that they are controlled. Only the person who it is installed, and makes the monitor will know where it is and how to access all the devious activities if there is any.
There are three main uses for computer monitoring. To monitor your child’s Internet activity, spyware on your spouse or partner, or your employee activities at work (if you own a business).
Is it ethical? In most cases, I think it is, in others it is a gray area.
In the event the company of our children, I think we as parents to know every right to what they are up to have. The Internet can be a very dangerous place for children, and has become a paradise for pedophiles.
How do you think your teen would react if they learned you were her? They would probably go ballistic for betraying their trust.
I would suggest just told them that you declare an eye on their activities, and why. You do not need to say to them, you are using spy software to say only a warning to them, you know what’s going on should be sufficient. It is our duty to protect our children and ensure their safety in any way we can.
Give them a warning that you will be monitored and set limits on the use of the Internet. Make your work computer in the living room or a computer in their bedroom is not going well. Even if your not at home, you can view their activities from a remote computer, if your work or on vacaction.
You can even see what they do, from a remote computer in the house you have access to.
Catching the cheating spouse. Here it can be dangerous. I once had my Exgirlfriend exchange rather erotic emails with some guy caught up on the Internet. Sure enough, she had an affair. She had forgotten to sign out their Yahoo account, and when I check my Yahoo e-mail, she was still pending.
You can imagine, I felt hurt and betrayed. This ultimately led to our break-up led, because they started from the guy. I just think how would I do if they feel that a domestic spying? I would be very cheated that it did not trust me. However, there is something in all of us that needs to know the truth. If you monitor your computer spouse or partner, be careful not you get caught. If your more computer savvy than she, he probably will not know. If you are the faithful one, you certainly have a right to know.
Employees in the workplace. You want to make sure that your employees actually work and not doze on their workstations. With computer monitoring software, you can monitor multiple computers simultaneously. Is it ethical? Well, only the employees who would have something to hide have nothing to say.
You try to run a business, pay employees, run the show. You have every right to know where your hard-earned money goes. Personally, I would let you know it, in preference that all jobs are monitored for productivity.
