What do I replace the use of wood as a router?
fixed routers are expensive, so I was wondering if I friggin a drill attachment or something else, good value, use with cutters work.

Depends on the detail that you want and your hand skills.
I’ve seen a drill/router rig before but I can’t remember who manufactured it. It would require a steady hand that few have.
I suspect that it might be considered more of a novelty item for anyone who knows what they are doing.
You could check out ebay for a nice fixed base router or ask your local tool suppliers if they sell reconditioned tools.
Reconditioned tools are used tools sent back to the manufacturer, rebuilt and resold at a discount with the full manufacturer warranties.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with reconditioned tools.

Some drills come with attachments like a standing drill guide, I think Craftsman makes one. The drill is inserted in the guide with the bit portion facing down like a drill press. You can raise and lower the drill on the supports. It may work for router projects that don’t require many rpms and I’m not sure the drill chuck set will hold the router shank tightly enough.

Drill presses typically won’t generate high enough RPMs to cut effectively with a router bit. The low end on a router is usually around 16000 RPM, whereas the top end on a drill press is about 3000 RPM. It may cut, but the cut will be very choppy, prone to chipping and would need lots of sanding.
If all you need is a simple way to create radiused edges and chamfers, you may be able to get away with a basic radius plane such as the one below. They’re simple, durable and a pleasure to use:

If you’re looking for more flexibility but don’t necessarily need lots of horsepower, an inexpensive palm router may fit the bill. These are likewise a pleasure to use, lightweight and quiet. Since they only require one hand, there is no need to clamp the work down, just hold it with your other hand. Here’s one model that has earned good reviews:
