Obvious question deserves an obvious answer: no, you should not (voluntarily) drop your receiver. Why would you want to? Consider my electronic autopsy to be “inconclusive”, don’t know what caused it, just more informed of the result. If I were you I’d just be extra-super careful with it, that’s how I treat mine. Good luck!

I have another receiver that does exactly what you’re describing. I’ve tried it with multiple guitars knowing full well that they work. My only conclusion is that it is yet another issue with the receiver. While it may not be as obvious as no LED, tricking you into believing it’s still alive when it’s really dead.
I suggest people buy the corded guitars that cost exactly the same amount as the receiver.. found on the RedOctane website. Wireless may be more comfortable but working is the goal.

There is only one bit of advice I can give you bub, all of this gear made by RedOctane is garbage. With the popularity of RockBand and it’s better online community and store, no one really wants GHWT anymore. So, I’ve stopped buying even new RedOctane equipment. From now on I would just buy RockBand equipment to play with the GHWT game.

Wrong. The problem most defiantly exists on ALL versions of the Kramer series adapter for PS2. This is the reason I did not show a picture of the guitar or give the exact guitar name or part number for that matter. It’s also why I named the video “Guitar Hero PS2 (Kramer) Wireless Adapter”.
Pay close attention to the word “Adapter” here. What I’m trying to say is that the same adapter is used with more than one model of guitar. This video is about the adapter, not the guitar.
Thanks

I would like to add something here. See, I saw this video after I dropped my receiver and it won’t turn on and just gave up trying to get it fixed. But then GH smash Hits came out and I wanted to play and I had no money at all lol.
Here is what I did.
I took a razor blade and started cutting around the receiver. There is a small groove where the two plastic pieces are joined. I pushed the blade into the edges until it would not go any further. Then I kept doing that all around it.

my GH WT wireless guitar receiver stopped working some time ago I’m sure it couldn’t have been that I dropped it since it was always attached to my ps2 since I mostly play 360.I’m going to try and open it and see if it has any visible problems, its a shame that it couldn’t be repaired because I just made my own copy of GH2 modded version and I don’t plan on spending money on another receiver

It’s definetly not the button, you could unsolder the button and it would still work! I’m thinking of making a corded guitar of it, i’m sure it is possible, but i’m focused still on the receiver. There are no any burns on mine. It’s probably the chip, but also it can be one of the capacitors. I’m gonna work on it. If someone could give me HQ pictures of the both sides of the board of the receiver, it would be great.

Some people have stated that, in their opinion, it’s not the button or that the button could be repaired. My opinion is that any to make “jumpers” etc. to the unit will most likely prove futile. No matter the cause, the point being made by this video is that the unit is “virtually” unrepairable (repair
