Creation of new zones in DNS Windows 2003 Server
If you want the Windows Server 2003-based DNS configuration on the existing DNS server environment, you first need the DNS service on it. Then delegate specific areas of need on this issue. Then you need to create new zones on the Windows Server 2003 DNS server. Follow these steps to do this:
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools and then click DNS. Then click the DNS Server object for your server, then expand the server object to expand the tree. Then right click on the Forward Lookup Zones, then click the new zone. Then click the Next button. Click on the main area of creating a master copy of the new zone. Then click the Next button. Then you have the name of the new zone, then click the Next.Click votes to accept the default file name for the new zone file, then click Next. Then click the Allow dynamic updates, then click Next. Then click Finish.
If you want to activate a new zone for dynamic updates, you must follow these steps:
In the DNS management console, click the DNS Server object for your server. Then expand the server object to expand the tree. Then right click on the object server, and then click Properties. let tab check the “General” Dynamic Updates drop-down box. Then click Yes, and after that you click. Repeat these steps on all areas of new dynamic updates on Windows Server 2003 DNS server.
After the initial setup of Windows Server 2003 DNS, you will not be able to detect the DNS server. This happens because the system assigns the new DNS server as a root server. For this reason, the new DNS server name resolution query transmitted. In this situation, you need to remove the root forward lookup zone. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click DNS. Then click the DNS Server object for your server, then expand the server object to expand the tree. Then click the Forward Lookup Zones to expand it. Click the box that is marked by a point and then press Delete. Click OK to confirm that you want to delete the zone.
