Question : Can you find out who set up a proxy server on your computer and whether they are monitoring internet use?
I just found out that i am connected to a proxy server. i am wondering whether people can monitor what websites i go to and my passwords and personal information. Is there anyway i can find out whether this is taking place?

The person or entity that manages the proxy server knows possibly your personal information and the sites you go to. Here’s what proxy servers do:

My guess is that your computer is owned by a company or school and you usually hook up on the job. The “proxy” is the computer server on your company network that gets you and everyone else in the company to the internet. That is all it is.
That being said, if you are surfing the internet while on the company network they definitely ARE recording where you go. If you are at home using your own ISP they are not recording.
