Can cable internet access cable work through a splitter like cable for television?
Question : Can cable internet access cable work through a splitter like cable for television?
My wife works for a company that pays for cable internet access for her computer only. I purchased a wireless router and need to know if I can use a splitter on the cable comming into the house (to her computer) and run the split cable to my wireless router. Her company will not allow her to be on wireless due to privacy issues. Also, her computer does not allow her to make changes. (She is not the administrator?)

You can’t connect the cable directly to your router. You have to connect your router to the cable modem.
No you would need an additional modem. It can only be split prior to the modem connection. Sadly this does not help you with your situation. Your wife can only connect wired? in your house ? . If you disconnect the ethernet wire from your wife’s computer and connect it to your wireless router, Set the wireless config. with a password, and you should both be able to connect to internet without really changing much on her PC. Does the PC your wife use’s belong to the company. If so Once plugging her pc into the router directly, Her pc will still have the direct connection and you can connect wirelessly and no one will no the difference..
