i have an older maxtor 300 GB external drive …
the partition was deleted from another computer but the files are still there .. i used a free trial sofware to see if they still existed..
my question is …
since maxtor was taken over by seagate … which software should i use to recover my files????
which is the easiest recovery software to use to get the job done????
will “seagate file recovery” work well for me??

Recuva if the files are just deleted. http://www.piriform.com/recuva
PhotoRec if the deleted directory entries are gone too. http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Digital_Photos_Recovery_Using_PhotoRec TestDisk (same link) first if the partition is gone.

I know of two very good recovery programs. One is already mentioned in other answers.
The one I currently use is Auslogics Emergency Recovery (http://www.auslogics.com/go/27021001/en/software/emergency-recovery). Never failed me.
