Question : What is the best notebook computer for a low price?
Mine crashed and I need a new one by August for school. I don’t have a ton of money to splurge, but I want to make sure to get one that’s going to last me through my last 2 years at college.

Try getting an Acer. They give you alot for your money.
You can also go to the path of waiting for the under $ 400 dollar sale at fry’s or Best Buy, and just getting a 2 year warranty.
Personally, I really like Acer, you will get more stuff for the same price as a named brand one.

Spend a few minutes now and save yourself a lot of frustration in the future. Go to a major retailer and look at the systems. Check the view on the screen, try the keyboard, and check the weight. HP/Acer/Compaq/Dell/Toshiba are all good brands. If you can wait for the back to school ads you will find some great buys. Get there early on the sale day since the number on hand is really limited. Staples has a overnight replacement warranty on their Acers. Other office supply stores sometimes have great values. Wal-Mart is selling the Dell systems. Compare Screen size, Memory, Processor speed, and installed accessories such as netwoking, DVD/CD burners or players. Dell offers systems with WinXP available while all others have gone to Vista. Recommend Home Premium.
