I have been trying to fix this LG tv for a while. the sound works fine, but there is no picture. it clicks as normal when powered up, but clicks again a couple of seconds later. Is this a common problem with these tv’s?

The failure rate on most LCD TVs is low enough so there are few “common” problems. If there are any common problems it is with power supplies in general. Fuses blow only after the damage is already done. There is either a short in the power supply or in one of the circuits it feeds. The clicking sound you hear is a power supply relay. It should normally shut the set down when a short is present. I think you have done all you can. It will require service by a qualified electronic technician.
