Question : Do you think The Notebook is a good example of a film about social stratification?
I have to write a paper analyzing a movie that deals with social stratification (social class) in America. Do you think The Notebook is a good idea?
I thought about using Titanic but my professor used that as an example and I want to come up with my own. I’m guessing other students will use that one

yeah i suppose you could say something about how in the past the rricher classes refused to accept poorer classes in their inner circles/families
you could use the movie Titanic too. that one would prolly be better actually. just because its defined clearer and mentioned more in that one.
The Notebook is one of my favorite movies. During the flashbacks in time, you can see how her parents were social snobs and did not want her to associate with a boy from the mill. He grew up as a working class guy who went into the military and returned home to start climbing the social ladder by restoring the old house and gaining the respect of the people in the town. She had to choose between living her life with a man that was more her social equal (politician), but her heart belonged to the war hero and working class man. I believe that he always regarded her as his social superior, but it made no difference to her –
she loved him.
