Question : Mount rack server 19″ where the best value?
I’m looking for a mount rack server that’s 19″ wide for our new building move in for November. Are they all the same? Its just metal right? If there’s a difference what is it? And what should I buy?

The racks are very different as far as security and dust protection. Some are ugly and some are very pretty. 19″ in an industry standard size width. As far as server height there are 1U, 2U and 3U standards. Some are short others are 7 foot tall. All depends on budget and what exactly your needs are.
So first off you have to ask yourself…
Is the server going to be visible?
Is the server going to be in a dusty dirty/high traffic environment?
Is the server going to be climate controlled?
Does the server need to be secured under 3 keyed locks?
How much equipment is going into the rack and do I need expansion capabilities?
To make sure your server lasts and doesn’t need cleaning/servicing on a daily basis take the above posted question very seriously.
There are plenty of manufactures of racks, finding the right one for your application is the trick.

There is a difference from brand to brand. I’ve been installing racks and server cabinets for years and one thing I’ve noticed about the cheaper brands is that the thickness of the metal is usually a thinner gauge and the tapped holes and cage nuts strip out easy. Nothing worst than a stripped hold on a tapped rail. Also the powder coating is cheap and the fans don’t last long and low end manufactures don’t have a good selection of accessories and shelf’s.
So called high end manufactures like Dell or APC are nice because you get good support from the manufacture but I don’t need that and I’ve noticed the raise the price on shipping more than half of what it should be.
I’ve been getting my cabinets and racks from these guys. They have a few different brands and they always have a good quality value product on that stuff.
