I am trying to set up a ventrilo server at home and its not working?

Question : I am trying to set up a ventrilo server at home and its not working?
I downloaded the ventsrv and set it up and everything and i can get the server to run, but i cant connect to the server using th ventrilo client. neither me or people outside my network are unable to connect. i will type in the password i set for it and my current external ip address yet all the client says is “contacting server” what am i doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Have you opened up a port on the firewall?

Assuming you are running ventsrv while you are trying to connect, it sounds like you have a problem with your computer’s firewall.

Try temporarily disabling your computer’s firewall. Once you are able to connect locally, you need to setup port forwarding for your computer. There are guides on the link below:
