How can I determine that a Cat5e cable is rated for residential in-wall installation?
Question : How can I determine that a Cat5e cable is rated for residential in-wall installation?
I have the following printing on a part of the cable:
CAT-5e GENERAL CABLE J CMX OUTDOOR-CMR (UL) C(UL ) CMCG 4PR 24AWG SW—VERIFIED (UL) CAT-5e BOC 11-04 232103J2 CAT-5e
CMCG is not on the able, but CMG. I made a typo.
I’d like an answer specific to the cable information I have given.
cat5e cable

Very simple, presuming you live in the United States of America. Just call your town’s (or city’s) Building Depart or Permit Office, or Code Enforcement Office. They absolutely can tell you what is and is not allowed. If this is not possible, call a Cable contractor and ask…..Good Luck!!!!
Most different brands of Cat 5e are good for indoor use, it is also rated for outdoor use because most Cat 5e lines have to run to an outside interface thus making it for outdoor use as well
