We recommend keeping solid ink machines powered on. Solid Ink engines consume power differently than laser. They come with an Intelligent Ready feature that automatically learns the usage patterns of your office to put the machine in sleep mode when not needed, and makes sure it is ready to go for the first person in the office. Solid ink products such as the Phaser 8860 and ColorQube 9200 Series have also proven to use less energy than comparable laser equipment over the product lifecycle.

But I’m not a REAL business, so I wouldnt know.
but when i purchased the damn thing, i went to small and home office link on the Xerox web site and the 8560 was the main feature.
I will admit that it does lay down a lot better image than toner does, but the costs of running it doesn’t offset the difference to me. i cant find any REAL specs on how much energy it uses to stay on and standby mode. the tech support guy took about 4 minutes to understand what I was trying to say.

to me it costs just as much to buy the solid “ink” or wax as it does the toner. plus you have to leave the printer on all the time, which they dont advertise, and the tech support people are halfway across the earth and you cant understand half of what they say. i wish i had my money back.
