Should I compress my drive before a Complete PC Backup?
Question : Should I compress my drive before a Complete PC Backup?
I want to do a backup on DVDs, but I was wondering if compressing my drive before making the backup (using the Vista tool) would be a good idea to reduce the number of DVDs. Thanks!

No, it wouldn’t.
The data would be extracted from the compressed disk before being archived.
No. Don’t compress the drive, as if you do, you won’t be able to to decompress it on you computer and it will slow it down, considerably. Also when compressing and backing up, you run into the chance of more errors.
There are programs out there that will compress the back-up info (reliably) and not the drive such as Acronis and other back-up software. Whatever you do, don’t compress the drive.
