â? I predicted over two years since the dual-screen laptops, the category will dominate in five years. Halfway to the deadline Acer introduced this week a laptop and exciting to practice two screens called Acer Iconia.

Iconia is the first clamshell dual screen laptop that I’m aware of an ordinary company. The laptop itself is the real deal. Powered by an Intel Core i5 and 4 GB of DDR3 memory support high quality Laptop Battery Acer, Windows 7 Home Premium Laptop Version 3.0, Bluetooth and USB.

It is at 6.2 pounds on the scale. Two screens and draining the battery. Acer claims 3 hours of battery laptop battery. Worse, it is not replaceable, which may be the most devastating Notebook “feature.”

What is great about Iconia is that Acer has done with the second screen. A screen is normally built into the lid, where the computer screen is, and the other is integrated into the base where the keyboard in general. Each screen measures 14 inches diagonally.

The screens work with the top screen to behave like any other computer screen and background tasks for special purposes such as a keyboard or dashboard for a particular purpose.

Another user is an application called Social joggers, a dashboard of activity of several social networking sites places on the bottom screen. Tapping it brings things into the top of the screen to open.

hot or not?

The first reaction from the usual suspects (gadget bloggers, columnists, various technical experts) focuses on the inferiority of the on-screen keyboard for input. And of course, the regular script, that probably is true. However, laptops are about compromises. You have to choose between larger and smaller screen, more power and the longest battery life, better performance and lower prices.

Option two screens, please call us to consider another compromise. I think the second screen is an interesting choice for two reasons. First, a screen size is worth its weight in gold for productivity and the whole program. And secondly, a physical keyboard is trivially simple and inexpensive to add an option. If you really need to type, just whip up a Bluetooth keyboard and go. It is easy to get two screens and a real keyboard. Not a big problem.
