Question : Which is better for gaming right now dual core processor or quad core processor?
Ive seen some good dual core processors and quads for good prices and what is better for gaming right now dual core or quad core Ive thinking of getting a 3.6 ghz dual core processor or a 2.6 ghz quad which one should i get.

not too many games require the power of a quad core processor yet. a 3.6 ghz dual core = 7.2ghz total , and a 2.6 ghz quad core = 10.4 ghz total processing power. i would probably go with the quad core, more power.

You need to tell us which two processors you are comparing. A much faster dual core is preferable to a quad core right now, but you can’t compare speed based on frequency.
If the two processors are otherwise comparable, and the only differences are the clock speed and the number of cores, the dual would be preferable for gaming right now. Games benefit hugely from faster cores but don’t do a very good job of taking advantage of more than two cores.
However, if the architectures are different, the quad may beat the dual. Which exact CPUs are you comparing?

quad core without a doubt. you do not need the power but everything else is faster so it is just better. i went from a 2.5 dual core to a 2.1 triple core and there was a huge difference in everyday computing. i plan to buy a quad core soon.
