Are there affordable satellite internet cards for laptops?
Question : Are there affordable satellite internet cards for laptops?
I am considering going on a cruise this year and I will need internet for online classes. Will they work out in the middle of the ocean? I guess satellite things pretty much pick up anywhere, lol. I heard cruise internet prices are killers. So, I’m hoping they make pretty affordable ones. Thanks to all who reply!

your wireless card will read nothing in the midle of the ocean, and internet thru the ship will be very pricy

Sorry, no such thing. The only mobile wireless internet you can get for laptops is cellular broadband, which, as you can guess, will probably not work in the middle of the ocean! Satellite internet requires a satellite dish, which is not made to be mounted on your laptop.
Satellite internet anywhere is also very slow, so depending on what format your online class is in, you might have to wait a long time to load anyway (increasing the price you pay for access on the ship). If I were you, I’d wait until next year to take the cruise. :) - Comment Feed for this Post
Yes, there is such thing as Satellite Internet. This is how they get online in the middle of the ocean. But do you think that if you get such a card, the SERVICE will be free? Satellite Internet is the MOST expensive service. It’s MUCH more than paying on a ship.
