Question : complete electrics for uk diy cnc router?
i want to buy and setup the complete electrics for a UKtransformer– cnc router.i am not an electrical person so i want to be clear about what to buy and i want to see it working on the workbench before i start the mechanical stuff.can you help with what is missing(or wrong)in the following—–FOR FULL SIZE ROUTER AND APPROX 600x300x80 FINISHED WORKPIECE
1 computer and software– i have GSIMPLE (free) but my laptop does not have a printer port or USB2
2 transformer–i have not got a clue.
3 motors –3x approx 300 oz.
4 control box–to suit motors and software–if i have to i will use MACH3–but i will not use linux and emc
5 wiring — i will not do any soldering–i want easy plugs or screw connections

This is not exactly an answer, but rather an advice:
You might be able to locate CNC kits (motors + controllers + power supply), but I wouldn’t bet they won’t require any soldering.
However, learning to solder is pretty easy (find tutorials online) and the tools are cheap. Also the risk of “frying” components is quite low, as long as you’ll be soldering just connection wires.
The most simple setup would be made of stepper motors controlled directly from a parallel port (via adequate driver electronics). For that you will need a dedicated old PC running MS-DOS that will control the machine (you will use your laptop for editing the cutting program/file).
There are enough choices of free CNC control software, dig into google/yahoo groups for further resources.
