People are not as stupid as the government would like to think. If this filter does make it onto the net, people will find away around it, and start to get very angry that their internet is slower then some third world countries. It won’t stay there for long, and both Rudd and that crazy religious guy will loose votes because they support it.

This is a real sleeper of an issue. So far ignored by the oz media, things will heat up once the bill is tabled. TOR, VPN, proxy are all legal, easy ways to get around the useless filter. The trial did occur. The enex report on it says that on page 2 that anyone can get around the filter!! Dear oh dear. The issue reminds me of the bungled oz card of the 80s. That was a Labor PM as well.

ill take a punt with the opposition as long as tony abbott’s election campaign is removing this filter and prevent anything of its kind from coming back. rudd should learn from his mistakes with the insulation debacle and not green light shit that is doomed from the get go. listen to ur country u idiot, ur not untouchable.

Speak out while you can. Share with what remains of free countries. We will not remain free for long. After going through it, is there something in hindsight you would recommend we look for? Be hyper aware of? Australia. Weren’t you the original rebel continent? Hurts to see this happening to you. Almost as much as it hurts to see it happening in the US. How did we allow ourselves, our countries, to get to this point? There’s the question.

The experts are saying there are lots of easy ways to get around the filter and that there could be sites blocked that shouldn’t be. It could slow down the net and could block games that as a 21 year i should be able to play if there trying to stop under 18′s looking and porn and volience what a shit way to do it the government shouldn’t be doing the parenting for all the parents of australia it should be a parents job to put internet filiters on there home computer

The Australian government really are a bunch of tools. Do they honestly think that this will be a full proof filter?, when a program is released it’s never perfect, it will always have bugs and therefore can be hacked. They seem to forget that they work for us, we vote them in so that they give us what we want. If this filter passes through, K Rudd and Stephen Conroy can kiss their political careers goodbye. Fuck Censorship..

My daughter when she was 9 in grade 4 typed in Christmas pictures in a search engine at school and one of the first pictures she found was a picture of a man in a pair of undies. I don’t want my kids seeing this stuff until they are older.Another typed in hookers meaning LJhookers real estate and got pictures and stuff of hookers.

@mixsetup Then YOU need to bring that school to justice. Don’t blame the internet for what the school or YOU should be doing. There’s bad stuff out there. It’s YOUR JOB TO PROTECT YOUR KIDS FROM IT. If you don’t know how then you can educate yourself. If I can learn 20 different languages on the internet then you can read a couple of paragraphs on how to keep your kids safe on the internet. Times are changing and parenthood need to change too. Adapt and overcome.

@mixsetup Proper supervision & a local Internet filter would’ve prevented this. This is the standard now so it seems their school is lacking. Regardless; the Internet is an adult median and will never be child safe. It is up to parents to monitor (and filter) what their kids are up to on the Internet & if this isn’t possible then they shouldn’t be using it. I should not be subjugated to a national Internet filter because of incompetence parents.
