The Australian Mandatory Internet Filter Folly
internet filter
Dave cuts lose on the idiots behind Australia’s proposed Mandatory Internet Filter, and calls everyone to arms to stop this madness before it’s too late. (My regular viewers may want to skip this, it’s not electronics related, it’s an Australian specific social commentary rant) If you think this rant is too long, there is an abridged version here: www.youtube.com For more information, see: www.nocleanfeed.com http www.efa.org.au (PDF Fact Sheet) www.getup.org.au (PDF Fact Sheet) www.efa.org.au stephenconroy.com.au

@kitstr I watched Q&A the other night and I realised that you and your politician mates actually think that we “listen” to your arguments. Politicians have lied so much that we just don’t believe you anymore, so don’t waste your breath trying to explain anything. WE DON’T TRUST THE GOVERNMENT, anyone who does is a fool.

@kitstr No holds barred when we’re dealing with a dishonest government that is leading us down a path towards Fascism. If the people don’t act now, we’ll be living under martial law with all of our rights having been flushed down the shitter.
America is about to collapse and we’re hours behind them. Feels like 1939 to me. -

It’s an attack on freedom of speech and the right to knowledge really. Most likely it’ll take down conspiracy theorists (some make good points) and underground information the government wouldn’t want you to know. Major issues can come from this. Programmers may even suffer from the intelligent who start boycotting the internet. If a kid can’t handle hearing “fuck” then you did bad raising your kid, case closed.

The internet filter is for government control. Every time the government says ‘its for the children’ its a load of bullshit. That’s just to suck in sheeple to make them think its a good idea. This filter will skrew up the internet and remove the freedom of information. The blacklist will allow for any website to be banned they don’t like, any information that may disagree with their power mongering to be banned. They will also track and log EVERYTHING you do online.

@JohnM3D I’m thinking the filter (or something like it) will be very ‘handy’ for the ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) bs that is being negotiated in secret to the extreme advantage of large ‘content owners’ and by extension to distribution channels.
