Try taking another permanent marker, drawing over the mark on your brass and immediately wiping it with a rag.

a dab of gasoline will remove permanent marker – but I have not tried it on brass

Brasso will remove it. Toothpaste may take it off too. Rubbing alcohol will take sharpie marks off metal, so it will probably work too. Super fine steel wool or even a kitchen scrubber.
Brass is non porous so many cleaners will take it off.

…i’ve never used it on brass, but, i swear by mr. clean magic eraser…it gets permanent marker off the computer, the fridge, the counter…try it!

nail polish remover has worked for me, but i have never tried it on brass. maybe steel wool but don’t scrub hard.

I’ve heard that a pencil eraser works… never tried it though.
Brasso might work also.

You could try Spot Shot (a spray cleaner) or Carbona Ink remover or maybe even hair spray or nail polish remover or specialty graffiti and ink removers.
