Question : can a hdtv cable box be hooked up to a standard tv and get atleast standard channels?
im a hardcore gamer planning on buying 1st hdtv i have 2 tvs in my room so i can game and watch tv get bored easily i need to know if the hdtv cable box can get standard channels on regular tv as the new tv will be mostly for gaming but i would like to have hd cable when im not but can’t do that if its gonna limit the standard tv don’t know if it matters but i have timewarner cable

Well I have an HDTV Satellite box and it receives both channels even though I don’t subscribe to to HD, i jsut dont get those channels, they are blacked out.
plus you don’t need an hdtv to receive hd channels
Yes. Regardless whether the selected TV channel is analog, digital, or HD, the cable box will output an analog RF signal to the RF connector on the back of the cable box. You connect this to the RF input on your TV, and watch the selected channel on either channel 3 or 4 on the TV (some cable systems use channel 3 as the output from the cable box and others use channel 4).
