Question : Westell DSL modem not working with Linksys, modems that do work?
I got a Westell 6100 modem after signing up with Verizon DSL, and then got a Linksys WRT54G 6 router (I d/l the firmware), only to find simply plugging and playing was not an option.

After spending 6 hours reading various instructions on resolving it by bridging the modem, and none working, I’m just thinking of buying another modem. Any recommendations for cheap(er) modems or modem router combos?

Thanks
I’m using XP

Get something like the earthlink Unified Hardware Platform (UHP) DSL Modem. They have modems that have a processor & memory onboard to handle logging in & the ppoe junk. After you config it, it just acts as a wan port. It dials when turned on & disconnected. You just plug it in to your wan port & go.

UHP is the propriatary toolset that earthlink uses for its connection if i’m not mistaken, so it wouldn’t be the specific product for you. But i’m sure there are other smart dsl modems out there that can log in on their own & just provide wan functionality.
