What is a good processor speed for a new computer with a dual-core processor?
Question : What is a good processor speed for a new computer with a dual-core processor?
I am thinking about buying a new laptop PC. I want to know if the processor speeds I see on most new computers is comparable to my current computer. I have a Pentium 4 processor now that is 3.2 GHz. I see most of the newer computers seem to be at around 1.6GHz, but that is on the newer dual-core processors. Will the newer computer run as fast as my current one? I am deciding if I should have this one repaired or get a new one.

you have a P 4 at 3.2 GHz wow no need to upgraed then
Back a few years ago it was all about the GHz, the higher the better. Then they hit a wall at around 3.2/3.6GHz. Then they figured out if they raised the FSB(front side bus) the speed of the CPU would run faster. Today look at the FSB speed & cache & then GHz. My roomate just bought a new laptop with an AMD turion dual core 2X TL-64 2. It has a FSB of 1600, 1MB cache & 2.2GHz. It is a screaming fast CPU & is faster than my older INTEL 2.8GHz dual core(INTEL 820)
