Question : Can you transfer Windows Server 2003 licenses to Windows Server 2008?
I am doing IT work for a non-profit organization. We recently bought 30 licenses for Microsoft Windows Server 2003, which is currently running on our server. Now, we want to upgrade to Microsoft Windows Server 2008.. Are we going to have to purchase all of the licenses over again, or can we transfer the old ones that we just bought? and if so, how?

why would you want to get 2008 server when 2003 server is supported till at least 2015,
if its 2003 oem embedded then its 2018,

i work in the it business as well and i really don’t see the point,

but in answer to your question – yes, you will have to pay for new licenses
