Question : How to connect a desktop pc to a dolby digital 5.1 surround sound audio receiver?
I have an HP Pavilion Desktop PC and I want to connect it to my Sony Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound receiver. How can I do this while receiving the full 5.1 surround sound effect? Thanks in advance.

The most important piece of information is the type of sound card. Some sound cards have optical or coax connectors. Some are stereo only. Some have proprietary adapters for surround sound audio.
