Make your own computer for discrete logic chips! It can be run on D batteries if you do it right.
Well since you are in college, you should first get the basics. You can probably purchase a discounted price on the 2007 edition of the word/excel/etc. documents. Those will help you out tremendously. Also depending on what major you are going into, it will also may require some more programs. If you are going into an engineering major, you may need some stress analysis programs to help you.
