VNC is used to connect to other computers that are connected to your network. I have it here at work. I am a guy and I use it to go on the computer of someone with a problem they may help. I can use it in order to connect to PC and I can do anything if I was sitting directly in front of the computer would do. But I’m not at my desk I’m sitting at my computer. Want so it’s really a good program to use when you help someone see or PC. But you must know that an IP address.

Sorry, I did not know, but I know a program that I use in an engineering academy. It’s called Autodesk Inventor. Basically, you can create 3D objects. My best bet would be to ask someone who you know, is a mechanical engineer and see if they know anything like it.

WannaBeHomeschooler I’m not really sure what you mean, but one is well Google SketchUp, it is free (with the exception of the Pro version is $ 497) If you know how to use design software, you will have a good relationship with her. Question : Does anyone else have a slower Verizon DSL speed since Norton OnLine Protection replaced CA?
This November I signed on with Verizon for one more year of their supposedly High Speed DSL Internet. When Norton Online Protection took over for Computer Associates, my computer is running slower than with CA. I run all spyware and antivirus software daily and it is not slowed down due to these problems.

Well, Norton is a much more comprehensive program and requires greater system resources. You connection speed has not been affected but you system has slowed down because it simply can’t handle a good Anti-Virus program like Norton. Best thing you can do to correct this is to turn off all the unnecessary programs running on your computer and upgrade your RAM. Programs like AIM and iTunes are set to “Auto-Run” when you install them and you need to disable this. RAM is the easiest and cheapest hardware upgrade you can make for your computer and you should really be running at least 2GB or more even with XP because of how demanding today’s programs are. Programs like XP and Norton can run on as little as like 512MB but you will not get good performance out of it. Your computer ran fine with CA because it is a second rate protection program…just like many of the “Free” Anti-Virus/Spyware programs people will recommend. They don’t use up as much of your system resources because they are not as comprehensive. I happen to have a Core2Duo CPU and 4GB of RAM and I run both Norton 360, the best available, and WebRoot Spysweeper at all times with no issues at all.

I’ve been using Sony Vegas for a while now, it’s great, but I find the workflow is kind of slow when I import a hundred pictures in the track. I also have to manually edit the in-between transition between the pictures so that the transition would have at least some style rather than a simple “cut to the next picture”
What I am looking for is a software that can easily or automatically make transitions in between the pictures.

Your best bet is the simple windows movie maker, just go on make movie automatically and it will do all the cutting and stuff for you.

Question : Does anyone know of a reverse vpn software or appliance?
What I am looking for is a VPN software or appliance that operates in a similar fashion to gotomypc or other similar remote access programs. I have many clients that it would be very useful for me to establish a VPN with. The problem is that they don’t maintain their own router/firewall and the company that does maintain them will not allow ports to be forward and will not support VPN unless you pay them a hefty monthly fee to do so. So I am wondering if anyone knows of anything that can be installed on the remote network and could “call out” to my local network and in a sense establish a reverse VPN tunnel?

Well – the VPN tunnel doesn’t generally require ports to be opened, but requires IPSec passthrough. So, if IPSec passthrough is opened, then you could put a hardware VPN device like the Netgear FVS114 on the inside of their firewall and establish a connection through it. If the VPN passthrough is disabled then VPN connections would fail regardless of which direction it was initiated from. Since the port forwarding is disabled, you would need to setup the VPN router from within their network. Additionally, they would need to have a static public IP address, and you would need to be able to assign a static private IP address to the router within their network.
