I usually have always been content with windows firewall, but i have heard before that it sucks compared to the other possible options such as zone alarm or something like that etc. Is this true? A hardware firewall is actually a firmware function of the modem/router/firewall. It is always on, unless you turn it off. A software firewall, works in a different way, blocking ports, and can error/crash and leave you unprotected.
