Cisco Catalyst 2960-24PC-L 24 Port Switch
0The Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series with PoE allows connectivity to Ethernet powered devices including Cisco IP phones, wireless access points and video cameras. The Cisco Catalyst 2960-24PC-L can support 24 simultaneous full-powered PoE ports at 15.4W. The Cisco Catalyst 2960-24LT-L has 24 10/100 Mbps ports with 8 simultaneous full-powered PoE ports at 15.4W.
Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series Switches with LAN Base software are a family of fixed-configuration, standalone intelligent Ethernet devices with Power Over Ethernet (PoE) or non-PoE configurations that provide desktop Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, enabling enhanced LAN services for entry-level enterprise, midmarket, and branch office networks.
The Cisco Catalyst 2960-8TT-L has eight 10/100 ports with one 10/100/1000 PoE input port. This switch does not need a power supply and receives power through the uplink from an upstream PoE switch, providing deployment flexibility and availability. It is ideal for wiring and space-constraint applications. The power adaptor (PWR-A=) and power cord are optional and may be purchased separately.
PoE eliminates the need for wall power to each PoE-enabled device and eliminates the cost for additional electrical cable and circuits that would otherwise be necessary in IP phone and WLAN deployments. PoE switches also eliminate the need for power injectors and PoE mid-spans for powering IP devices.
The Cisco Catalyst 2960-24PC-L Switch with Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a new member of the Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series. The Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series also offers models with LAN Lite software that provide desktop Fast Ethernet connectivity for wiring closet and small branch-office networks to provide basic LAN services. The LAN Lite Cisco IOS Software provides entry-level security, quality of service (QoS), and availability capabilities while lowering the network’s total cost of ownership.

24 Port Switch – All you need to know about the topic of network switches
0Remember to carry out planned within a very restrictive approach to a meeting in the next 30 minutes. Exactly how you feel if your network speed does not allow you to upload files to your meeting? Alarmed, right.
Consider this, you have a last call to your credit card company for payment from your debit or credit card bill, but the speed of the network is shared, and you do not have enough bandwidth to carry the entire transaction pass on to pay your bill. The result is a set interest rate on your bill through your bank.
sharing network speed is the most widely used to use in offices. Many issues related to network bandwidth can be overcome by using network switches. Medium to large LAN (Local Area Networks) can be used properly with a network switch. A large amount of multimedia files, images and video details can be replaced with this model. not
At 16 or 24 ports of the switch should be regulated and can easily improve your use of the network, independent of all competitors for the network bandwidth among users. Mainly 24 Ethernet Switch will not be configured. Some companies allow this 24-port network switches with diagnostic LEDs to monitor their users and correct network problems.
As a rule, per-port 10/100/1000 Mb / s 24 for the effective supply of 2000 Mb / s data throughput. There are switches with 48 ports as well. A change from a bridge over themselves and it is relieved on the CPU. It is cheaper than a router when the number of ports is the parameter of comparison.
is a known disadvantage of a network switch that they can not communicate between networks. It is not as effective as a router to limit emissions. Fortunately, most of the disadvantages of network switches using multi-layer switches that are easily accessible to be eliminated on the market.

What kind of switch is this? Your not plugged into the Management FA1 port are you? That is a restricted port for management only (though I would think you could ping the SVI). I assume you have either created a VLAN other than 1 and placed your port in their, or left all ports in VLAN 1 (which is pre-created) and then you have assigned an IP address in whatever VLAN you are in? What you do a “show interface” what is the state of your port (fa1) and the state of the SVI (VLAN Interface)?

You can configure VLANs and Trunk port as shown below. You have to change port numbers&VLAN names according your needs. You also need routing between this networks.
configure terminal
vlan 10
name X Department VLAn
vlan 20
name Y Department VLAn
vlan 30
name Printers VLAn
interface range FastEthernet 0/1 – 10
description X Department ports
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 10
spanning-tree portfast
interface range FastEthernet 0/11 – 20
description Y Department ports
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 20
spanning-tree portfast
interface range FastEthernet 0/21 – 23
description Printer ports
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 30
spanning-tree portfast
interface FastEthernet 0/24
description Trunk port to connect other switch
switchport mode trunk
no spanning-tree portfast

can a canon f50 be connected to a HP JetDirect port?

You’re talking about a Canon Multipass F50 multifunction device and an HP JetDirect print server, presumably a model with a USB port?
In short, the answer is probably yes, you could, but only for printing. You would lose the scanning and other abilities.
You need a printer server that’s designed for multifunction devices.
I ran into this problem myself, and ended up solving it best by just getting a long USB cable.

The best thing to do now is make sure your firewall is updated as well as your windows are patched with the latest security patches.
Disconnect your affected PC from the network to prevent it from spreading the attack elesewhere.
Run your antivirus, antispyware to make sure no trojan is been installed that might act as a backdoor to network attack.

You will need their managed switches to do this. Most any of their managed switches will do the job of allocation, VLAN, etc work you are seeking.
In fact a managed switch by Adtran, Nortel, HP, 3 Com and others will also work.

If you make port changes and things like that, it resets your connection to it, basically kicking you off.
PPTP and HTTP Port Forwarding with Static NAT on a Cisco router
0 Copyright (c) 2008 Don R. Crawley />
Recently a student asked one of our seminars about port forwarding on a router. Her aim was to PPTP clients from outside connect to a VPN server name. In this article I'll explain how you want to send it with a look at the use of static NAT packets to a webserver.
Port Forwarding on a Cisco router
Sometimes we have internal resources that need to be accessible over the Internet such as Web servers, mail servers or VPN servers. In general, I recommend isolating those resources in a DMZ to your LAN to protect against the evil, but no matter how you understand, choose, the process of transmission of packets the desired interface outside router is connected to an internal host. It is really a fairly simple process. Here is the configuration on a Cisco 2611:
/ 1 interface Ethernet0
IP address 12.1.2.3 255.255.255.0
ip nat outside
!
/ 0 interface Ethernet0
IP address 192.168.101.1 255.255.255.0
ip nat inside
!
ip nat inside source list 101 interface Ethernet0 / 1 />
ip nat inside source static TCP 192.168.101.2 1723 interface Ethernet0 / January 1723
!
access-list 101 permit IP any />
In the above configuration is Ethernet 0 / 1 is connected to the Internet with a static address of 12.1.2.3 and Ethernet 0 / 0 connected to the inside with a static address 192.168.101.1. NAT is on the outside of E0 / 1 and NAT configured configured on the inside E0 / 0. Access-list 101 works in conjunction with the "ip nat inside source list 101 interface Ethernet0 / 1 overload" statement so that all hosts in use E0 / 1 connect independently to the Internet from the content distribution of the IP address on the Interface / 1 E0 Ethernet assigned.
The “overload” statement implements PAT (Port Address Translation) which makes this possible. (PAT allows multiple internal hosts to a single address to an external interface by different port numbers to share for each connection.)
The “ip nat inside source static TCP 192.168.101.2 1723 interface Ethernet0 / 1 1723″ statement takes the incoming port 1723 (PPTP) requests on Ethernet0 / 1 and forwards it to the VPN server is on 192.168.101.2.
It could be something similar with a Web server by using port 1723 to port 80 or port to do 443rd Here’s what it would look like this:
/ 1 interface Ethernet0
IP address 12.1.2.3 255.255.255.0
ip nat outside
!
/ 0 interface Ethernet0
IP address 192.168.101.1 255.255.255.0
ip nat inside
!
ip nat inside source list 101 interface Ethernet0 / 1 />
ip nat inside source static TCP 192.168.101.2 80 interface Ethernet0 / January 1980
!
access-list 101 permit IP any />
In this example, the Web server 192.168.101.2 and instead of forwarding PPTP (port 1723) traffic, we are sending HTTP (port 80) traffic.
Of course, you can configure your Cisco router in a similar way to the front of any type of traffic over an external interface to an internal host.
