My wife bought one in grad school and got a free ipod and 100 bucks off because she was a student. This was a temporary promotion, though. They offer promotions through Apple for this kind of thing, so you’ll need to check their website for any discounts.
The biggest discount I could find on a quick search was 50 bucks though.

Answer by Nathan GreenYour best bet may be a net book. If you mainly only use it for programming and coding you wont be putting too much stress on it. Plus they are cheap. I would just recommend you make sure you get at least 2GB RAM.
